About Us

Our Story

Located in the heart of St Helier, the Jersey Markets are home to nearly 50 specialist independent traders and are an integral part of our Island’s cultural identity. In the Central Market, which sits within a beautiful historic building dating back to 1882, you will find a variety of produce, goods and places to eat and drink. Just across the road is the Fish Market which offers traditional fish stalls alongside a variety of eateries and goods.

The Markets offer a unique ‘one stop shop’ for specialist independent retailers selling fresh produce, food, drink, gifts, fashion, flowers, objet d’art, everything for the crafter and vinyl records, to name but a few. An array of businesses offer extensive specialist shopping opportunities with a variety of places to eat, drink and relax as you soak in the vibrant market atmosphere.

We care passionately about the quality of the food available in our market – whether it be local Jersey fare or a specialist selection from further-afield – our knowledgeable traders are here to help meet your requirements. Each offers a personal customer service and with only minimal packaging being used, you’ll be helping the planet too which is always a good thing.

Come and join us as we celebrate all that is unique about Jersey!

Surely more people must visit the Central Market than any other location in our Island.

Long may it flourish!

Our Values

Community

We’re proud of the rich cultural diversity within our Markets. As well as a plethora of traditional offerings, we also have an exciting mix of products from all around the world.

The Markets are indoor spaces for everyone in the community to use.

We want the market to be at the heart of everything in St Helier and we strongly believe that they have a vital role to play in providing a space for sharing and bringing the community together.

Collaboration

We want to see the Markets serve as a platform for independent local businesses and dynamic start-ups in order to encourage sustainable entrepreneurship, particularly those that showcase and celebrate Jersey’s produce, products & service.

We want to raise awareness of what else is happening in St Helier and link up with all the good work that is going on so that the Markets are part of the collaboration to revitalise the town centre.

Customers want quality and value, traders want to provide a service and make a profit. We are here to provide the support for that relationship. The Markets are a collaboration of all involved for the benefit of everyone.

Celebration

Jersey’s Markets are one of the primary attractions on the Island and their significance spans heritage, culture, and commerce which is definitely something to celebrate!

We want to bring people together in the Markets and create a space in which to connect and celebrate those aspects of Island life that influence the Markets – be it rural, marine, culture, tourism, enterprise, agriculture, retail – it’s a long list!

Let us celebrate the diversity of those who both work in and visit the Markets as well as the local and international goods on offer. The Markets are a place where cultures connect, generations gather and the old and the new happily co-exist to bring us together to meet, eat, drink and shop.
